Ingredients

  • 1 cup self rising flour sifted well
  • 1/2 cup whole buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil or melted butter (cooled)

Instructions

  • Set oven to 425 degrees.
  • In a medium sized bowl, sift 1 cup self rising flour.
  • Add 1/2 cup of whole buttermilk. (Low fat does not work as well.)
  • Add 1/4 cup of canola oil or 1/4 cup melted, cooled butter.
  • Stir together for only a few seconds until it forms a sticky wet dough. Do not over mix!
  • Spray the baking pan with a little cooking spray.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal sized portions.
  • Using large spoon, drop the dough onto the baking sheet just touching each other. Smooth out with a little flour or a bit of oil on your fingertips.
Or, flour your hands and shape each section of dough into a ball in your hands then place on the baking sheet and pat down just enough to lose the ball shape.
  • Bake at 425 for 15 minutes checking toward the end of baking. Broil for a few seconds to brown the tops if needed.
  • Enjoy!
