Make a Friend’s Day with these Five Simple Ways Designed to Bring Joy
Easy Ideas to Brighten a Friend's Day
We all have days when we need a little added joy, right? When our spirits need a lift, often we turn to our friends. Make a friend’s day by trying out one of these simple ideas. Be that friend who always has the knack of knowing when someone’s day needs a random act of kindness. Here are five easy ideas to inspire you!
Bring a Picnic Lunch to a Friend
A few years ago, I had a friend whose father had passed away. I packed up a picnic lunch in individual picnic baskets and brought it to her. We ate together and visited. She has since told me several times how much that meant to her.
Putting thought into planning a special lunch around favorite foods or a fun location will make your friend feel extra special. Whether you are there to help them through a difficult time or to celebrate a recent achievement, fresh air and sharing lunch with a friend will make their day! Make and Take a Meal for Dinner
When you have a friend who has an especially busy week coming up, why not make and take over a meal that is ready to eat or one they can stash in their freezer? Knowing that at least one meal is taken care of during a busy week will give your friend the gift of a home cooked meal as well as saving them time.

Send a Handwritten Card or Letter
Surprise a friend with a handwritten letter or a card with a thoughtful note written inside. These days it is so rare to receive some “fun” mail. All that usually waits in the mailbox is a pile of bills or junk mail.
Taking the time to choose a card or write an old fashioned letter will show any friend that you are thinking of them. Imagine the smile on someone’s face when they spot an envelope addressed by hand in the mail! Check out this post from our archives on how this is an easy way to make someone’s day.
Send a Care Package
Drop off (or send if you live away) a care package. Something as small as a batch of homemade cookies (like this recipe for the Best Peanut Butter Cookies) would be enough to put a grin on any friend’s face!
Other ideas include a spa day at home gift basket like this Burt’s Bees Gift Set. You could also package up a new coffee mug with a bag of their favorite coffee. Anything that you know your friend loves and gives them the chance to relax for a few minutes is perfect!
Give the Gift of Time
Give your friend one of the most valuable gifts of all – time! By offering to run errands, babysit, or pick up kids from school you are gifting a friend with an extra hour or so in their day.
