How to Make Competition Worthy Chili at Home
An Easy and Delicious Chili Recipe
Are you looking for a chili recipe that would win a chili cookoff? If so, then here is one of the best chili recipes I have found. It comes courtesy of my parents. This is a chili recipe they received from a good friend, and over the years it has been tweaked and perfected. I am happy to share this one with our readers!
Since we love to find ways to celebrate the smaller things in life, this recipe can be the main feature of a casual dinner party. I have served this recipe to a group of people that included vegetarians. All I did was make the pot of chili without the meat first. Then I added in the cooked meat to a portion of the chili recipe. Served alongside baked potatoes, this provides a hearty meal. Set out a toppings bar (with some of the toppings doubling for the chili and baked potatoes), and everyone can customize their bowl to their liking.
Bud's Three Bean Chili
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 can pinto or kidney beans (light or dark red)
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can chili beans
- 1 can Rotel diced tomatoes
- 1 cup V8 juice
- 1 cup Bloody Mary mix
- 1 package Carroll Shelby chili mix (or ½ package of Wick Fowler 2 alarm chili mix - probably won't need masa to thicken chili)
Instructions
- In a 5 quart stew pot, brown ground beef with onion and celery. Drain.
- Add all of the remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour or more.
