This Easy Taco Pie Is the New Star of Dinner!
This easy taco pie is a tasty alternative when you want to switch things up for Taco Tuesday. Layers of ground beef and onions with taco seasoning and mild green chiles are covered with a batter made from baking mix, milk, and eggs. It’s all topped off with cheese before going in the oven. Finish off with chopped tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, and sour cream if you’d like for a great Taco Tuesday dinner!

Ingredients Needed for Taco Pie

- Ground beef (can also use ground turkey)
- Chopped onions
- Taco seasoning mix
- Small can of chopped green chiles
- Baking mix (such as Bisquick)
- Milk
- Eggs
- Shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite kind of cheese)
- Preferred toppings (such as tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, salsa)
How to Make Taco Pie
The steps to make taco pie are easy. All you’ll need to do is brown the ground beef and onions together. Then drain any grease out from the pan and sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef and onion mixture. From there, it is all about layering the ingredients in your pie dish or casserole dish per the pictures below.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 envelope taco seasoning mix
- 1 small can chopped green chiles
- ¾ cup baking mix (such as Bisquick)
- 1¼ cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, and extra grated cheese for toppings
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400℉.
- Brown ground beef and chopped onion until cooked through.
- Drain off excess grease from pan.
- Stir in envelope of taco seasoning mix.
- Grease a deep dish pie pan or casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Spread browned beef and onion mixture evenly in dish.
- Spread green chiles evenly over browned beef and onion mixture.
- In a small bowl, combine baking mix, milk, and eggs. Mix well.
- Pour liquid mixture over ingredients in pie dish.
- Bake in oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with grated cheese. Return to oven.
- Bake for additional 8 to 10 minutes.
- Serve with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and additional shredded cheese if desired.
