The Best Broccoli Cauliflower Salad Recipe!
Best Broccoli Cauliflower Salad
This broccoli cauliflower salad recipe is my go-to when I need to take a dish to a potluck or get-together. It is so fresh, crunchy and flavorful! It has a sweet and sour type dressing that is just so perfect with broccoli and cauliflower! And the bacon and cheese just bring it to the next level. I have had so many compliments on this delicious salad! So yummy!
Ingredients:
The Salad
- 1 bunch of broccoli, washed and cut into florets or a bag of fresh broccoli florets – I like to cut mine so they are not so big, just the perfect bite size.
- 1 head cauliflower, washed and cut into florets or a bag of fresh florets – also cut bite sized.
- 8 strips of bacon, fried and crumbled well.
- 1/3 cup of purple onion, chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated – I like to grate my own instead of buying the bagged shredded. To me it’s just better but you can use the bagged shredded for convenience and it will still be good.
The Dressing
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup sugar – I heap mine just a bit. I like it a little sweeter!
- 2 T vinegar – I have used apple cider vinegar, red wine vinegar, and white vinegar. I like them all. There is a variation in the taste but they are all good. I usually use apple cider vinegar in mine.
A few other tips
- Be sure that your broccoli and cauliflower are very dry before preparing your salad.
- It’s fine to cut your broccoli and cauliflower the night before and refrigerate it. Actually, this helps it to be dry for preparing. I really like to have things done ahead of time so it’s quicker to put together the day I need it!
- Buying a bag or two (depending on the amount of salad you are making) of fresh already washed cut broccoli and cauliflower make it super easy and convenient.
- It is best to serve and eat it fresh once it is dressed. It will still be good the next day but I don’t like it as much the 3rd day. The dressing breaks down and it loses some of its crunch and flavor.
- You can double or half the recipe easily and it is still very good.
