Ten Podcasts You’ll Love That Will Keep You Listening
Two years ago, I changed jobs, and something that came with that change was a lot of time spent driving everyday. Now, I love audiobooks and music, but wanting some variety, I found myself beginning to explore podcasts. Over the last two years, I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts. These ten are the ones I most highly recommend if you are looking for something to listen to that will help you grow or bring you joy. I hope you’ll find one that you love!
Podcasts for Growing your Faith
- How to Study the Bible: Host Nicole Unice takes you through everything you need to know to dig deeper into a passage in the Bible. She doesn’t feel preachy, and I never feel like I need a seminary degree to follow what she’s saying. But I always learn so much! Episodes are about 20 minutes and drop once a week on Mondays.
- The Bible Recap: This is my favorite podcast. Period. It’s about 7 minutes and drops every day. As a busy mom, I find it hard to make time for my Bible reading, so this is absolutely perfect for me. It’s great for new Christians or people who have been reading the Bible for decades.
- Wake Up Call with J. D. Walt: This podcast appears daily and is less than 10 minutes a day. It is designed to offer a story or verse, a prayer, and a hymn to start your day. It was actually recommended to me by my pastor, and it’s great for those who love “traditional” church.
Podcasts for Learning
- You’re Wrong About: This podcast takes well-known events in history and breaks down all the misconceptions people commonly hold. The host, Sarah Marshall, is a former journalist, and it shows in how she gets right to the heart of things. If you love history, trivia, or learning what other people (or you yourself) are wrong about, it’s for you!
- Sold a Story: A few years ago, Emily Hanford broke a story about how and why education failed to teach all students to read and the massive repercussions we are facing now. It will break your heart, light a fire in you, and give you hope that we are finally starting to get it right. This is only six episodes, and I think everyone should hear it.
- Stuff You Should Know: Similar to You’re Wrong About, this one tackles topics that are important to our culture and gives you an overview of everything you need to know. It’s got a lot of variety and it’s fun to listen to!
Entertainment Podcasts
- Game of Roses: If you are at all into reality TV, and especially if you ever watched The Bachelor, you have to check this one out. Every week, they break down the most recent episode of The Bachelor (or The Bachelorette or Love is Blind or whatever) as if it were a sports competition. They have their own lexicon of terms just like any sport. And every week, they dig into which players made great plays and errors and who was the MVP. I don’t really watch the show anymore, but still find myself listening to Chad and Lizzie’s breakdowns just because it brings me joy.
- How Did This Get Made?: The hosts of this one met while filming a show called The League. Their friendship and love of movies so bad that they’re good birthed this podcast. They break down the hows and whys behind the making of the worst movies of all time and it’s hilarious.
Book Podcasts
- Overdue: The hosts of this podcast, Andrew and Craig, discuss all the books you’ve been meaning to read but never have. They cover classics, recent fiction, children’s books, and every other genre you can think of. Sometimes I enjoy listening to them talk about favorites I’ve read and it feels like I’m part of their book club. And sometimes I find the next book on my list. Either way, it’s a great listen!
- NPR’s Book of the Day: This podcast shares one book a day from recent releases, and I’ve discovered more than one book I might not have heard of otherwise. They also don’t discriminate, but cover all types of books from every genre under the sun. And each episode is only about 10-15 minutes.
I hope you find something on this list you’ll want to listen to! Do you have any favorite podcasts? Drop a comment and let us know!

Hi, I love podcasts too too! I’ve had “You’re wrong about” on my list for a while but haven’t gotten to it yet. I have been in a pop culture phase lately – some of my favorites are “Wiser than me”, “Smartless”, and “Office Ladies”. My kids currently really love “Greeking Out”. Thanks for the great suggestions!
Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll check those out. I think you’ll like “You’re Wrong About.”
Thank you for these recommendations. I am always looking for podcasts to listen to while I clean house.

Hey Jamie!
I s t r u g g l e with my daily Bible reading, not personally being a “reader” myself. I have been looking at the Bible Recap and plan to check out this podcast.
Thank you!
