Four Easy and Spectacular Ways to Celebrate Star Wars Day!
I’ve always loved Star Wars. My dad was a huge fan, and I remember vividly sitting on his lap and watching the original trilogy. I have equally happy memories of being a teenager when Episode One came to theaters and I saw it with my two best friends, my brothers. It might only be a story, but it’s one that resonates with me now even as an adult. So I love May 4th: Star Wars Day. Any day is a good day to have a little fun, so here are four easy ways to celebrate Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!
Dress Up! Even a Little!
This one is so easy. Dress the part. Keep it simple and wear a fun Star Wars tee or hat. My favorite place to buy Star Wars tees is Target, and they always have some.
Have to go to work? Maybe a star wars tie, scarf, or some leggings with a dress.
Need something quickly? If you have amazon prime, check out their star wars store here.
Or if you really want to go all out, wear a costume. Or fix your hair in a Star Wars style. I used this tutorial last year to fix my hair like Rey for Star Wars Day and it was so fun! She also shows you how to do an iconic look from Padme and Leia as well.
Watch a Star Wars Movie!
The movies are where it all began. If you have never seen them or if it’s been awhile, consider having a movie night!
If you have Disney+, all the Star Wars films are there to stream. And if you haven’t checked out The Mandalorian, I highly recommend, especially if you like Star Wars or Westerns. If not, I’ve linked a couple of my favorites below that you might want to check out.
Rogue One: this is actually a prequel to the 9 movies in the Star Wars Saga, but it’s my favorite of the newer films. Jyn Erso is my favorite female hero in all of Star Wars, and the supporting cast is amazing too! Click here to buy it.
A New Hope: This is the first ever Star Wars movie, and I recommend that anyone new to the Star Wars Universe should start here. Click here to buy it.
Have a Lightsaber Battle!
My kids love a lightsaber fight. We like to set up on teams. Rules are: no hard hitting and no hits to the head. We use points to determine the winner. Set a timer and count up points every time you touch an opponent on their body with your lightsaber. The goal is to touch, not hit. Use your lightsaber to stop theirs. Whoever gets the most points wins! If you have kids in your life, this would be perfect for Star Wars Day!
If you don’t have lightsabers, they are easy to find. We bought ours at Walmart, but I’ve seen them in dollar stores, target, and The Disney Store.
Make a Star Wars Treat!
We love to eat in my house, so no celebration is ever complete without food. There are so many options here, but here are some things we have done.
Death Star Pizza: This is SO easy. Buy your favorite brand of frozen pizza or materials to make your own. Move or place your pepperoni slices in a circle in the upper right corner and in an arc across the middle to make it look like the Death Star. Click here for a picture.
“Blue Milk”shake: This idea comes from a famous scene in A New Hope where Luke and Ben meet Han for the first time in a cantina and Luke drinks a “blue milk.” We just made vanilla milkshakes and added a little blue food coloring.
Lightsaber Fruit Kabobs: Check out this post from Eats Amazing, a fun blog with ideas for foods for kids. We made these last year for Star Wars Day and my kids loved them!
