Here Are Five Questions to Help You Personalize a Bridal Shower
What theme best fits the bride?
When you have a theme to build a party around, it helps to give everything a cohesive look. A theme can guide you on the type of food, decorations, activities, etc. And when the theme is related to something the bride loves, it makes the bridal shower unique for her.
Example: If the bride really loves to cook or bake, then plan a kitchen themed shower. As part of the invitation, include a blank recipe card. Ask guests to write in their best recipe and assemble them into a book or recipe box for the bride.
What is an activity or hobby the bride enjoys?
Make a list of activities/hobbies the bride enjoys. Decide if any of these could be used as a focus of the bridal shower.
Example: If the bride enjoys gardening, then plan a flower bar where guests can make a bouquet to take home. This can serve double duty as an activity for guests and party favors. You can also base your party theme around this floral bouquet activity such as a “Love is in Bloom” theme.
What are the bride's favorite colors?
Another way to personalize a bridal shower is to plan the decorations around the bride’s favorite color(s). This makes it easy to pull together the party look, and the bride will love seeing her favorite color everywhere.
Example: If the bride loves pink and white, then use touches of pink in the napkins, table decorations, cake, etc.
What are the bride's favorite foods?
Think about how you can incorporate the bride’s favorite foods into the shower. Depending on the type of food, you can even base your party theme on it.
Example: If the bride loves ice cream, then build your bridal shower plans around an ice cream social for a “She’s Been Scooped Up” theme. This will not only personalize it by serving the bride’s favorite food, but also your menu planning is all set.
What sentimental element or tradition would the bride appreciate?
Weddings are a perfect time for traditions. Adding in a sentimental element to the bridal shower makes the party more meaningful and memorable.
Example: If the bride appreciates old-fashioned traditions, then add cake pull charms to the bridal shower cake. These fun charms are all individual and traditionally the bridesmaids and single guests pull a cake charm to predict their future.
