Photo Collage of Family, Kids, Vacations, or Special Days
For this memorable Father’s Day gift round up your photos or get some printed from your phones or cameras that are from special occasions, holidays, vacations, or everyday fun. Purchase a large or poster sized photo frame (like this one available in gold, silver, and black.) Select the pictures you want to include and arrange them on the backing of the frame. Next you will want to adhere them using some double sided tape or a scrapbooking adhesive. (Click to see these from Hobby Lobby.) You can add other scrapbooking embellishments or lettering to personalize it even further. Place it into the frame and you’re done. It can be as large, simple or fancy, as you want! It is sure to be a treasure for your favorite dad to hang in his office or his man-space at home!
Photo Array of Kids Holding Signs or Word Sign
Another great Father’s Day photo gift is to do a special photo array for Dad to put on his desk or nightstand. Pick out a frame with the number of photos you will be using to create a special message just for him. Have the kiddos hold signs, (for example Dad Is My Hero) or letters to spell DAD and take your pictures. Get them developed and you’re set. It’s a simple but sweet gift. Or make a sign using wooden letters to spell out DAD or a special family word. The Ohana sign was made by adhering the photos to wooden letters with Modge Podge and then spreading Modge Podge evenly over each letter again over the photos. Let dry. Choose a wooden sign frame and then glue the finished letters in the frame with wood glue. It’s a unique and special tribute to your family.
Favorite Hobby or Interest Magazine Subscription
This one is so simple but is sure to be appreciated since most men don’t order a magazine for themselves. Think about his hobbies or interests and do some research to find a great magazine that your guy would enjoy. There are so many excellent magazines featuring any topic that you can imagine! This is a gift that he can enjoy every time his magazine shows up in the mailbox!
Plan a Family Outing or Trip With Him In Mind
My son-in-law has family who live far away so they don’t get to visit very often. For one of his special days, my daughter surprised him by planning an entire road trip with their kids to visit his family. She arranged some stops along the way that he would enjoy, booked hotel rooms, and made arrangements with his family. He was very surprised and so happy that she had planned this for him. Of course, you may not want to plan a long road trip. It might be a day trip or a visit to an attraction nearby that he has wanted to see. This would definitely be a memory making gift!
A Few of His Favorite Things Crate, Storage Chest, or Cooler
Think about your guy’s favorite things that he loves and enjoys, make a list and do some shopping. This could be his favorite drinks, snacks, hobby supplies, movies, books, coffee, toiletries, clothes, games, electronics, etc. Gather all the items and put them in a crate, storage chest, or cooler. Use a favorite sports team blanket, themed fabric, or beach towel to line the container. This is sure to be a hit!
Themed Crate: A Particular Hobby or Interest
Choose a particular interest or hobby that your guy has and get him fixed up with all the things he needs. You might use a container that goes with that particular hobby/interest. Here are a few suggestions to get your ideas flowing. The possibilities for these Father’s Day gifts are infinite!
Cookout Theme: A large cooler or ice/drink tub, spices and rubs, grilling utensils or tools, gift card from Omaha Steaks, burger press, grill basket, grill brush, etc.
Favorite Sport Theme: Favorite team cooler or crate and assorted items that have the sports team’s logo. Perhaps even include some tickets to an event. Instead, if it’s for actively participating in a sport include sports equipment, supplies, clothes, etc. for that past time. Include a special lesson or gift certificate to use in the chosen sport.
Tools Theme: Use a large toolbox or storage bin, sets of basic tools, small power tools, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
Beach/Lake/Camping Theme: Cooler or Folding Utility Wagon filled with supplies for your outdoor destination.
A Day For Dad
For Dad’s special day, make the entire day all about him. Cook and serve his favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with some favorite desserts. Or take him out to his favorite place to eat. Plan a few of his favorite activities to enjoy throughout the day and provide the time and any items he needs to enjoy it. For example, watch one of his favorite movies along with snacks; go fishing or on a hike together and bring a picnic; plan an outing to a sporting event just for him or for the whole family. He will surely appreciate being king for a day!
And Don't Forget
Be sure to have the kiddos make your some special cards filled with lots of sweet messages and delivered with lots of hugs and kisses! The cards pictured were for my son in law on his birthday. Have your kids use their imagination to come up with personal ideas for their cards for Dad on Father’s Day!
