First, you need the perfect picnic basket or bag
This insulated basket by Picnic at Ascot is everything you could want in a picnic basket! It is roomy, folds up to 3 inches flat for easy storage, and it comes is several cute patterns as well as basic colors. At $44 and with a lifetime warranty, this is a great investment for any family who enjoys picnicking. And it would also make a great gift!
This adorable wicker basket is such a cute little picnic basket for two! It comes with all the utensils and a blanket included, and the pattern is so classy and cute! On the outside you get a traditional picnic basket look, but the inside is an insulated pouch, and there are plenty of pockets for you to carry everything! This would make a great gift for newlyweds or a present for your significant other on an anniversary!
Though our backpack is Disney Themed, it is very similar to this easy to carry insulated backpack. This one, like ours, sports a big insulated pocket for food storage and other pockets that could hold utensils and other essentials. It has great reviews, and at $29.99, you get a lot for your money. So if you’d prefer a bag to a basket, something like this is a winner!
Plates, cups, utensils, etc.
If you want to be classy with your picnic utensils, this silverware set is perfect! For $36.99 you can get a set for 4. The set includes real cutlery, stainless steel plates, a small cutting board, napkins, and a wine bottle opener. It all comes in this handy little case you can easily stick in your picnic bag or carry with your camping gear.
If you’d rather go with plastic (or something similar), it’s easy to find plates, cups, and utensils in the kitchen section of your local Walmart or Target. That’s what we did, and it is super easy. But if you’d rather buy it all in one set, and especially if you prefer to avoid plastic, check out this set by Ecostar that is dishwasher safe and virtually indestructible. It’s $29.99 for a set of four and the colors are so cute!
The most important part: The picnic blanket
I love this picnic blanket! It is extra large to fit any size group, and comes in two fun colors. We went with the classic red check, and I love it so much! It has a waterproof backing and it’s padded for extra comfort. It rolls up easily and is easy to transport. And it is machine washable! And at $28.99, it’s a great deal for something you’ll use and enjoy so much!
If you want something a little less expensive, check out this blanket by MontoSun! This one wipes clean by hand (not machine washable), but the pattern is fun and bright, it folds up easily into a little carrying case, and it’s water resistant. The reviews for this are excellent, it’s a steal at $19.99!
One reviewer said: “This picnic blanket was amazing!! It was more than enough for 5 people. It was raining earlier but we did not feel any wetness coming through the ground!”
Other fun stuff for picnic time
This set of classic outdoor games is so much fun and perfect to bring along on any picnic! It includes materials for 4 players for sack races, 3-legged races, and egg and spoon races. The sacks work for adults, but can be folded down to work for kids too. And they all fit into this convenient little case so they are easy to add to your picnic pack. The whole set is $27.99.
This little set of plastic yard toys is the best thing for littles at picnics! It all comes in a mesh drawstring bag, making transporting so easy. And it’s only $19.99. The colors are bright and the possibilities are endless! Toss the rings on the cones. Try to land the bean bags in the rings or closest to the cones. Organize the cones for an obstacle course. Play hot potato with the bean bags. Have a cone head race. Honestly, this is one of my kids’ most favorite things!
