Need a Crowd Pleasing Appetizer Full of Creamy and Cheesy Goodness?
Try This Recipe for Anytime Cheese Spread
This easy cheese spread appetizer is the result of my mom’s failed attempt when making a cheese ball. Luckily, the “fail” turned out to be even better! This recipe has long been a family favorite, and I am happy to share it with you.
It is super easy to make and everyone loves it! Even better, this cheese spread recipe keeps for up to two weeks in the refrigerator. That means it is perfect for a make ahead appetizer. Try this for your next potluck, cookout, birthday party, or family dinner. I hope it will become a family favorite in your house!
A Few Helpful Hints for Making This Cheese Spread
Here are a few things to keep in mind when making this recipe. Following these helpful hints will ensure the best outcome when you make Anytime Cheese Spread.
- Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature so it will blend with the other ingredients.
- You can use any kind of cheddar cheese, but the extra sharp really tastes the best here.
- Take the time to finely grate the cheese by hand. Do not use pre-shredded cheese. It does not blend well at all.
- For the onion, you also want to take the time to finely dice or grate it. You do not want chunks of onion.
- This tastes better the longer it sits, so try to make it at least a day ahead.

- Note: If you would like to serve with veggies, just add more ranch dressing to make it the right consistency for dipping.
