A YouTube Channel You and Your Kids Will Love
As a parent, one of the battles I fight the most is the amount of time my kids want to spend on devices. I know too much screen time isn’t good for kids, but there are times that their devices can be really beneficial. Great content on their devices can help them learn new things and embrace new opportunities. Over the next few months, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite content for kids. I’m starting with a great YouTube channel, DoodleToots TV, that focuses on drawing tutorials for kids. Read on to learn more and see why DoodleToots TV is the perfect content to share with your kids!

DoodleToots TV Is FUN to Watch!
First of all, these video tutorials are something your kids will really enjoy. The host, Jason, is super engaging and obviously very passionate about what he does. He’s knowledgeable and a talented artist in his own right, but he’s also silly and funny in a way that really appeals to kids. The videos are typically only 5-10 minutes, so your kids will stay attentive. And the drawings they’ll get to see are always super cute. It’s fun just to watch him draw the characters to see how they come alive.
The Drawings Are Easy and FUN!
Not only are these videos fun to watch, but they are easy to follow even for a young child or an amateur artist. The host takes his time with each drawing and makes it clear that it doesn’t have to be perfect. He uses a tablet and stylus, but anyone can pick up some pencils, crayons, or whatever you’ve got and replicate his drawings.
My favorite thing about these tutorials is you can really feel how much he loves drawing, and it’s clear he is drawing because it’s fun and not because he is good at it. I think the idea that you can be unskilled at something but still find joy in it is an important lesson for kids.
It Really Helps Kids Grow
I always want the content my kids consume most often to be things that teach them something or help them grow in some way. DoodleToots TV obviously gives kids drawing skills, which is cool. But developing that skill and developing a love for art along with it gives them so much more.
Being able to draw provides kids with an outlet for creativity and self expression, which I think is really important for all kids. Drawing well also takes practice, which helps kids develop perseverance and a growth-mindset, which are so important to future success.
Some ways you could use this content for fun activities in your home include:
- Have a “drawing party” for your child and some friends and have them all complete drawings and share with each other.
- Do a tutorial as a family and hang them all up together.
- Watch several of his tutorials and then have your child make a tutorial of their own doing something they know how to do.
- If you have really small kids, they can join in the fun too! Go to the DoodleToots website for coloring pages of all the drawings he does. You and your older kids can draw from scratch, and your littler ones can color the same drawing. It’s a great way to get everyone involved!
I hope you’ll check out DoodleToots TV and share it with your kiddos. And if you like Jason’s art, check out his design shop to buy tees, shoes, bags, and tons of other goodies.
I own several of his designs. My favorite is the Yoda shirt pictured. Since I’m a Star Wars fan and an English teacher, this one really resonates with me! I also have a Wordle shirt, a Toy Story shirt, and a Mandalorian tumbler I love. His designs are whimsical and witty, and they make me smile when I wear or use them. I hope DoodleToots does the same for you!
Have a good day,
Jamie
