Tried and True Nostalgic Family Recipes
This easy and delicious Easter dinner menu is made up of my family’s treasured family recipes that have been used for decades. They are tried and tested. If you haven’t cooked as Easter dinner before, then these recipes are perfect for you to try.
Pictured to the left are Grandma Dot’s Deviled Eggs. This recipe is the first one I learned to make on my own. Included in this picture is the recipe written in my 10 year old handwriting that I have saved. This recipe is always on my Easter dinner menu. It would not be Easter without them!
This Orange 7Up Salad pictured to the right is another family favorite that has been made for decades. This recipe comes from my maternal great-grandmother.
This salad is served in my paternal grandmother’s china, so that is another way to tie the past and the present together.
An Easy Homemade Candy Recipe for Easter
Are you intimidated by the thought of making homemade candy? Then try this recipe from my paternal grandmother for Martha Washington Candy. Traditionally it is made with a milk or dark chocolate coating, but I adapted this for Easter by tinting white chocolate melting wafers with a pastel color.
Don’t worry when you have a crumbly texture after mixing. Just work the mixture with your hands to bring it together and form a small 1/2 to 1 inch ball. Then they will be ready to dip in chocolate.
Here is the finished buttercream candy that is ready for Easter with its pastel green coloring. Impress everyone with your candy making skills. No one will need to know how easy this recipe is to make!
