Five Fantastic Favors to Make a Bridal Shower Extra Special
Bridal Shower Party Favor Ideas that Guests Will Love
Thoughtful party favors add a special touch to bridal showers and are an extra detail that can take a celebration from ordinary to extraordinary. I always say that details make the difference, and a favor is an opportunity to add another personal touch to a party.
Questions to Ask Yourself When Choosing Party Favors
Party favors are a way to add another layer of thoughtfulness to any celebration and especially a bridal shower. To help you decide what type of party favor to give to guests, here are a few questions to ask yourself.
- What is something that would have special meaning for the bride? What are some of her favorite things?
- What type of favor makes sense for the type of bridal shower being held? For instance, if you are holding a bridal shower outside in summer then favors that would melt wouldn’t be a good idea.
- What kind of guests are attending? If you have mostly out of town guests, then plan for something small for example.
Types of Favors Perfect for a Bridal Shower
Below I have five categories of party favors for bridal showers. These include favors that tie into your party theme, edible favors, sentimental favors that carry special meaning for the bride, pampering favors, and favor ideas for a couple’s wedding shower.
Themed Favors
If you have a particular theme for a bridal shower, then you can link the party favors to the theme. These types of favors help reinforce your party theme.
Here are some examples for inspiration:
- Kentucky Derby glasses for a Derby themed shower
- Small houseplants or succulents planted in a cute decorated pot for a “Love Grows” themed shower
- Set of measuring spoons or other kitchen utensil for a kitchen themed shower
- Personalized luggage tags for a travel themed celebration
Edible Favors
Edible favors are always popular. They are also easy to tie into the theme of the bridal shower. It is also another way to connect it to the bride’s favorite food or her hometown.
Examples for inspiration include:
- Packaging up the bride’s favorite snack like donuts or candy
- Individual lemon tarts for a lemon themed “Main Squeeze” shower
- Tea bags with a vintage tea cup and saucer for an afternoon tea shower
- Small bags of locally produced food items such as coffee, miniature cakes, cookies, etc.
Sentimental Favors
If you are throwing a shower for a bride who is especially sentimental, then she and the guests will enjoy a party favor with extra meaning behind it.
Ideas for sentimental favors are:
- Cake pull charms that each have a different meaning (read more about the tradition here)
- Tea towels printed with the bride’s favorite family recipe
- Framed photos of the bride with each one of her guests (from the day of the party or from the past)
- Copies of the bride’s favorite book
Pampering favors
No one will be disappointed with a party favor that provides a little pampering at home. For fun ways to package the favors, look for vintage containers, mason jars, or cute baskets.
Inspirational ideas for pampering favors include:
- Handmade soaps in a pretty box
- Bath salts presented in vintage apothecary jars
- Eye masks or a sleep mask made to match the party colors
- Manicure “in a jar” with nail products packaged in a mason jar
Couple's Shower Favors
Couple’s showers are becoming more and more common, and it is a nice way to include the groom and his friends as part of the celebration.
Here is some inspiration for favors that are perfect for couples:
- Personalized deck of playing cards or the bride and groom’s favorite board game
- A box filled with cute notecards that contain date night ideas
- Gourmet popcorn and copies of the bride and groom’s favorite movie
- Hot chocolate and mugs with bonus points if you make homemade marshmallows (check out Ina Garten’s easy recipe here)
Finals Thoughts on Bridal Shower Favors
As you can see from the ideas above, party favors can be one of those extra details that will have guests talking about what a great party you threw. That being said, I do believe that favors are not something that any host should feel obligated to provide.
If you are working with a tight budget, then party favors are an item that can easily be left off the list. Keep in mind that party favors do not need to blow the budget. As you can see from the ideas above, there are several economical options (such as home baked goods).
Any of these favor ideas will not only work for bridal showers, but also they will make great wedding favors. Most of these ideas can be used for other types of celebrations as well. If you need more party favor inspiration, don’t miss my post Five Fantastic Favors Your Party Guests Will Love!
